The Hensley Family
North Carolina
Kimberly, a German student living in North Carolina, is having the time of her life - and gives credit to her warm and welcoming new family. "On my first days here, the Hensleys and I traveled to a lake house at Lake Tahoma to spend 3 beautiful days there. Then, over the Labor Day holiday we were going camping in the mountains with an incredible group...I made new friends, decided to start reading Harry Potter and got to know my host family a bit better."
Kimberly's host family, the Hensleys, welcomed her 'home' upon her arrival in August. An only child in Germany, Kimberly quickly found herself comfortable with her two siblings, Caroline and Patrick, and a second set of loving parents, Emily and Steve. "Caroline became not only my sister but also one of my best friends. She is unbelievably smart and helps me whenever she can. My brother Patrick ...is one of the funniest boys that I have ever met. I love to go to his football and basketball games...I love Patrick and Caroline so much and I can't believe that a few months ago I didn't even know them. [Emily and Steve] are absolutely incredible. Emily is one of the most caring and nicest

people that I have ever met. She loves her family more than anything....Steve is a great musician, I love to listen to him playing the guitar and singing along with it...Moreover, Steve and my German dad are really similar to one another. They have to same kind of humor and the same interests. And I think that sometimes they will become great friends. I am so thankful for both Emily and Steve, for the decision to take an exchange student and for choosing me. I really couldn't imagine living in a better family."
